THOUSAND BOATS SAILING
The Fuzhou Rongfa Hotel Mixed-Use project is designed to be a key landmark in the city and is located on the last available land parcel on the Fuzhou Exhibition Island at the south bank of the Min River. Conceptually, the project exudes the nautical ambiance of the Min River, reflecting a vision of “Thousand Boats Sailing”. The shape and configuration of the buildings metaphorize unfolding flower petals in a concentric pattern, while the free-flowing podium defines the connective tissue creating a holistic composition. Responding to the planning requirements of maintaining 45% of the site as green space, the development is literally located within a meandering City Park with a grand central courtyard, easily accessible from tree-lined boulevards. A second-level pedestrian bridge connects the individual structures into a multi-level leisure destination.
