We believe 100% of the money generated from music should go into the pockets of the artists. Technology has made music free, and at 3mix we think that same technology can (and should) be used to put artists back in control of their careers. What the internet has taken away it can also give back.
Although new and rapidly evolving technology has broken the industry model, the big music companies still will not relinquish the control they've had for so long. They pretend to be open to change by moving their model online through partnerships with big social networks and software companies, but they are simply adding more corporate middlemen to a revenue model that continues to hold musicians hostage.
We're building a platform where musicians, label managers, sponsors and fans can network and collaborate openly, with the common goal of increasing free distribution and value of independent music while ensuring the artists are getting paid. Our tools are free to use and the 3mix platform will be released to the open source community so that a whole world of developers can join us in facilitating this inevitable paradigm shift in the music business for the benefit of everyone.
